You pay only for vector storage above the free tier. The price depends on the number of vectors, their dimensions, and the tier you choose. All tiers include unlimited queries at no additional cost. Your first 250,000 vectors (at 512 dimensions) are always free.
All pricing is normalized to 512 dimensions. If your vectors are 1536D (3x larger), you use 3x your allowance per vector. This means the free tier covers 83,333 vectors at 1536D instead of 250,000 at 512D. The same multiplier applies to paid rates: $0.49/M at 512D becomes $1.47/M at 1536D.
Correct. You can run as many queries as you want on any tier at no additional cost. You only pay for storage. This is possible because our infrastructure is self-hosted at fixed cost, and we pass that efficiency to you.
Yes. You can move collections between tiers at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately. Resuming from the Paused tier takes about 5 minutes. You are billed daily based on the tier each collection occupies.
Paused is for collections you want to keep but are not actively querying. Your vectors and index are preserved on HDD at minimal cost ($0.09/M at 512D). When you need them again, resume takes about 5 minutes to move data back to queryable storage. Free tier collections that are inactive for 30 days are auto-paused.
